Today ended up with a water theme.
For those who may not be aware, Australia has been experiencing a tremendous drought - universally believed to be caused by climate change phenomena. Earlier this year, their water supply was so short (less than 20% capacity in their reservoirs).
A rainy Spring and some recent unusual Summer rains have brought the capacity up to 40%, but water is still a precious commodity. The entire country is making aggressive changes to the way people live. And they are asking visitors and tourists to do the same.
After being made aware of it throughout the day with closed fountains/water features...
...where the features that are still open, provide signage to assure people they are still complying with drought precautions.
...the sculptures along this area still have their reflecting pool, but the fountains have been turned off...
...so when I got back to the hotel and "just breathed" as Kiki recommended...I almost felt too guilty to enjoy the lovely rooftop pool. Almost.
Postscript: No zoo today - sorry J - maybe next time.

It seems like you're having a good time. I'm so glad! I wasn't aware of the drought situation there, either.
Love the pics!
I'm sending you a reverse postcard.
Wish I was there.
OOOOH, I don't think you would hurt the water supply one bit if you jumped in that gorgeous pool. Get thee in that pool woman!
Hi Wendy - I am so proud of you!! Way to strike out and see the sights. I wish I could have went with you, but your blog really helps me be there with you!! Have a wonderful time!
